Search works without any setup by asking free public YouTube mirrors (Invidious and Piped). Those servers come and go, so if search stops working, add a YouTube API key. It's free and makes search reliable.
To get one: open console.cloud.google.com, create a project, enable "YouTube Data API v3", then go to Credentials and choose Create credentials → API key. The key is saved only in this browser.
